Captions & transcription

Corte captions are built on a real transcription of your audio: word-level timing, so every caption lands exactly when the word is spoken.

Add captions

1. Open the transcript tools and choose Add captions.
2. Corte transcribes the audio. Transcription costs 72 credits per hour of audio, and you only pay once — the transcript is reused for text-based editing and search.
3. A styled caption track appears above your video, one caption per phrase.

Style and behavior

Captions are generated with the look and pacing you choose:

• Style — font, size, color, and background follow the caption style you pick; you can restyle the whole track at once afterwards.
• Animation — per-word and per-caption animations: fadeIn, popIn, slideUp, typewriter, wordReveal, wordSlide, wordPop, wordCycle, highlightPop, highlightBlock — or none.
• Max words per caption — cap line length for social formats.
• Profanity censor — automatically masks profanity in the caption text.

Editing captions

Captions stay editable text on a text track. Click one to fix a word, retime it, or delete it. Because they're clips, everything from timeline editing applies — split them, move them, restyle them.

If the transcription got a word wrong, fix it in the caption or in the transcript view; the caption text is yours to correct.

Manual titles are free

Captions spend credits only because of transcription. Text you place yourself — titles, lower thirds, end cards — is free: drag a Text element from the Media panel and type.
