@-mentions & reference images

Generation gets dramatically better when the model can see what you mean. Corte gives you two ways to hand it your own media: @-mentions inside the prompt, and the Add image attachment button.

@-mentions

Type @ anywhere in a prompt — in Studio, in an Application's notes, or in a workflow prompt node — and a picker opens over your media: uploads, generated results, and any connected integrations.

Pick an asset and it appears in the prompt as a pill with a thumbnail, so "make the lighting match @hero-still" reads exactly the way you meant it. You can mention more than one asset in a single prompt.

Under the hood, Corte rewrites each mention into a numbered image reference the model understands ("(image 1)") and sends the pixels along with your words. Your original text — pills and all — is preserved, so when you reopen a generation later the prompt still shows exactly what you typed, thumbnails included.

Reference images ("Add image")

The Add image button attaches images without putting them in the prompt text:

  • Image models use attachments as style/content references — up to the model's limit (typically 4).
  • Video models that support a first frame use your first attachment as the opening frame and animate from it; additional attachments become references on models that accept them.

Attachments show as removable chips under the prompt.

When a model can't use them

Not every model accepts images, and the composer tells you rather than silently ignoring your input:

  • "Model needs a starting image" — the selected model requires an image input; add one (there's an inline Upload shortcut) or Generate stays disabled.
  • "Model can't use attached images — they'll be ignored" — you've attached images to a text-only model. The warning includes a one-click Use other model button that swaps you to a comparable model that does accept references.

tip

Mentions pull from the same sources as every media picker — so once Shopify, Squarespace, or Dropbox is connected, @ reaches your store and cloud files too.
